New time controls for Correspondence games, opinions please ?

Sure. CC has announced the end of v2 for several years. Every 6 months a "final date" is announced. v3, the new platform would be the only available option. This was 3 years ago and v2 still remains for users as v3 has far to many bugs and lag issues to release as the sole platform.
What is the technical issue with shorter time controls? I dont see one.

I think thats a valid request. More flexible time controls harm no one.
Correspondence chess has always been a minimum of 1 day per move. Want 12 hours per move? Then someone wants 6 hours? Hey why not, make 1 hour, 2 hour available. Let's make everybody happy! Have the option, tomorrow I'm going out of town, click a button to add 24 hours. This can only be done once every 3 moves, unless of course your computer goes on the fritz and you need a week to buy a new one.
@no_bullet_thanks

if that's what you want, I think the answer would be from Staff...
Write the code. If they consider it a good addition, it will be implemented.
Everybody seems to think developers have nothing better to do than sit around all day writing new code, forever adding bells and whistles that members suggest, plugging up the site to no end.
@mdinnerspace thanks but who is CC ??
@no_bullet_thanks I got the same feeling. We already have fischer time implemented for other game categories and lag is not a problem at all for correspondence games. The only difference is that the time numbers will get larger.
@mdinnerspace , having less than 1d per move or more than 14d per move is not the point. That wouldn't help.

Click on new game for any category other than correspondence and you'll see two time control sliders. That's the fischer time control. Now imagine the first slider goes 1-14 day of initial time and the second slider goes 0.5 - 14 of increment time, for instance.
hmmm...... Haven't heard of CC ?

Increment time in correspondence ? What on earth for? Why is it needed ? The suggestion is 1 day plus and sliding increment ? Never heard of such a thing. 1 day plus and increment of 24 hours equals 2 days.
You suggest and increment of hours added to each day it seems. Besides, increment in live chess is cumulative. You can't possibly be suggesting the increment keeps adding up in correspondence?
@mdinnerspace

"Everybody seems to think developers have nothing better to do than sit around all day writing new code"

Well, you for sure have nothing better to do than writing forum posts, critizising other people who make harmless suggestions.

If the devs like it they will implement it, no matter what you or me say. If they dont, they wont.

So what is actually the purpose of bashing requests here? You have too much time? Stop arguing just for the purpose of arguing. This sucks.
