new time control for tournments: 15 0

@tpr
Your list seems to be wrong, 5+0 is on #1 or #2 in those lists.

The reason why 15+15 is more popular than 15+0 pretty surely is because it's one of the default options for the quick pairing.

As for 0% >60 min. I assume it's 0.2 or so?! I think that does indeed have to do with the lack of advertisement. I didn't play those long games for a long time because it wasn't easy to find opponents. However once I found the 45+45 tournament I played regularily since I now find opponents. So maybe there should be some note on the lichess site that this long time control tournament exists.

Besides, noone really wants a >60 min time control, it's just that the boarder between blitz and classical could be moved up. Having 8 minutes in the same category as e.g. 45+45 just seems weird. However thibault did not like the idea since it would be a rather big change so I guess it'll stay like it currently is.
@MoistvonLipwig no 1+0 is #1 in number of games and 5+0 is #2 in number of games. What I did is multiply number of games by total time counting second increment as minute total so as to gauge popularity in terms of time played. Then the longer time controls show more popularity.
Everything above 15+15 does not appear in the source given.
As CoffeeAnd420 wrote at #27 comment, you can search for games in the Tools>Advanced search menu, for example:

Opponent: Human Opponent
Variant: Classical
Clock initial time FROM: 20 Minutes

Date:
- 1 Day Ago-> 9,380 games found
- 1 Week Ago-> 74,395 games found
- 1 Month Ago-> 326,406 games found
- 6 Months Ago->2,146,267 games found
- 1 Year Ago -> 5,364,616 games found
- 5 years ago -> 10,886,356 games found

Opponent: Human Opponent
Variant: Classical
Clock initial time TO: 20 Minutes

Date:
- 1 Day Ago -> 136,032 games found
- 1 Week Ago -> 1,045,958 games found
- 1 Month Ago-> 4,606,841 games found
- 6 Months Ago-> 28,102,892 games found
- 1 Year Ago -> 56,152,914 games found
- 5 Years Ago -> 108,070,186 games found
But theres no way that 7+0 is ahead of 5+0 in total play time.
EDIT: also the most recent one in that thread has:
5+0 - 2329056 games
3+0 - 2158945 games
1+0 - 2068329 games
10+0 - 1567951 games
3+2 - 467778 games
2+1 - 399411 games
0.5+0 - 384998 games
5+3 - 339861 games
0.25+0 - 256592 games
2+0 - 233300 games
15+0 - 148208 games
15+15 - 105757 games
5+5 - 100722 games
8+0 - 94695 games
5+8 - 86814 games
7+0 - 58878 games
0+1 - 58782 games
4+0 - 57058 games
5+2 - 50831 games
1+1 - 46661 games
10+5 - 44987 games
20+0 - 42818 games
3+1 - 42254 games
5+4 - 35938 games
1+2 - 35681 games

Which would have 5+0 on #2 after 10+0, right?
This was already calculated by @vhsdreams in that original thread.

Look at the last pastebin link there. 7+0 is something like #19 or #20 in terms of total playing time.

It goes something like 10+0, 5+0, 3+0, 1+0, 5+3, 3+2 in descending order of time played, if I remember correctly.

There are some really big dropoffs #2 to #3 and from #3 to #4 also...

EDIT: Sometimes I don't think before I type. I could just put the link here :)

@tpr I wouldn't recommend 15+15 tournments. A further argument is that with increment you cannot be sure about how long a game will last, so you can hardly use it in tournments. With a time control of 15 0 you can asure at least 5 games during 2:30 hours.
@chesspibito That's not how lichess tournaments work. You get a game as soon as you finish your previous one, you don't wait for the other players to finish. (though of course you can still be "unlucky" play long games and only get a few games like that)
Well, I think both of us are right. Tournments do work because you get a new game as soon you finish the previous one, AND because each game has a certain limit in its lenght (i. e. no longer than 20 minutes for a 10 0 game).
Unfortunately, 45+45 League and Lonewolf are unofficial and that's why few people just know about their existence. It would be interesting to have something like that on the regular basis and that can be easily reached from the main page of the site. But Arena-like tournaments with time controls >10+0 are weird. You just cannot play something like that in one day unless you're a marathon runner like Lance. I'm only interested why the time control and duration options are so restricted on the tournament creation page.
I like the idea of a 15+0 Classical tournament, even in place of the current 10+0 tournaments. 10+0 is too slow to be blitz and too fast to be rapid. Many people end up berserking anyways. I think 15+0 might make more people happy.
