I like to play the Dutch Defense and the Scandinavian as Black. As white, I've been playing 1.f4 lately (Bird's Opening, or The Dutch Attack)... but I think I'm going to try the Mieses opening (1.d3, your suggestion) and see how I like it.

@DrHack 1.d3 d5 and the best white has is to transpose to Kings Indian Attack. White wins 4% less games (34%) with 1.d3 than with the main lines (1.d4,1.e4,1.c4,1.Nf3,(1.Nc3,1.g3)) according to my database. The reason why 1.g3 scores better is that white still has options to play Gruenfeld with white.
