Im New any tips?

I am new to chess and that means I am shocking at it. So can anyone give me tips please or advice please as I am in need of it.
Not really a tip; but:
You probably want to stay away from the variants until you get the hang of standard; or you will find yourself mixing rules and having a real hard time.
@breakreign, or you could just quit standard and go to variants; that's what I did, and I got 2200 atomic.
@ijh quitting standard is one thing.
Never ever playing chess before; and immediately hopping onto a variant after a couple of standards is something entirely different :O

His OP requested tips on (standard) chess. Hence, my statement :)
Stay away from variants and from bullet. For the time being also stay away from blitz. Play only rapid, classical, and correspondence. Each time you lose a game, analyse it afterwards. Look where you went wrong. Computer analysis by Stockfish and the learn from your mistakes feature help, but you have to think it through yourself.
1) Develop your pieces
2) Don't hang your pieces
3) Don't trade just to trade. Have a reason for the trade. Look what is left on the board, and not what is taken off.
4) Get your share of the center in the opening.
5) Defend your king
6) Look at your opponents options.
7) Bullet chess is not real chess. You will see Grand Masters play moves that a novice would were they to have longer amounts of time.
