If you had enough resources and contacts, what chess activities would you promote in your city?
chess in the park. chess clubs. just chess in general. where i live, there are no chess clubs that actually meet up on a regular basis..
Big Prize Events, Simuls, GM Tourneys, Learning Sessions with Titled Players.
I would hire titled chessplayers to give lessons to the young chessplayers in my city. Would host dinners on weekends to honor these masters. In addition, I would take them to see the main tourist attractions.
Hire 32 pro wrestlers to be human pieces. For each capture, they could show a quick takedown
.
.
Not an activity as such, but I'd buy a suitable building for a chess centre- plenty of space for learning, and it could be used by chess clubs on evenings, regular events and tournaments. And there'd be a shop and cafe where people can come along and play casually.
None. I'd buy me a great big house and fill it with tons and tons of stuff.

After that, can we play chess in your house, Mr. Pushwood?

I would hire a company to build a park (bamboo or wooden roof) that has lots of concrete chess tables.
