#11: While yes, the Bishop-and-Knight checkmate very rarely occurs, the reason you should learn it is not the *Checkmate* itself, but the improved understanding of how the Bishop and Knight coordinate with each-other that you will possess after learning it.
@Shadow1414 I agree and also, even if it's not worth a rating point checkmatewize, it's fun, and that why we play.

But serious;y speaking @PranavAjay According to Jeremy Silman and others, you don't need to invest 4 or 6 hours to memorizing how to mate with Bishop and Knight. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.
Personally I've been playing 50 years and I can't ever remember having a game where I had to know this. Better to burn calories doing simple puzzles in Puzzle Storm or Puzzle Streak.
