How do I memorize square names on the board?

IChrisI, type in chess coordinate in Google Play and will take you right to app
Myself never play chess at smartphone or tablet. Only PC with monitor at writing desk.
But have a tiny little car traveling chess board (without icons) tipping with finger on fields to visualize the game in my "short time memory", to remember, what happened. Am a lousy chess player, but makes me fun.
Your and yours, steve
I disagree with all here lol.

First I would take the squares you already know and expand your knowledge away from the center - so every square gets a meaning. It is much easier to recognize a square as a "sicilian square" or d4 square than working it out via grids. You may realize you already know half of the board after some time like g3, g6, e5, e4, d4, d5, c5 and so on.

The brain learns easier if many squares are related to a name - for the rest use the grid.

Beside the grid you need to recognize a square as dark or light when playing blindfold.
Experience, experience, experience
When playing long games, write down the notation like in otb
