FIDE Will Investigate the Carlsen Accusations Against Niemann

As reported by Chessbase, " Following the recent developments in the Carlsen-Niemann controversy, FIDE's Fair Play Commission (FPL) has decided to act ex-officio and create an Investigatory Panel (IP). Three members of the Commission will form this panel, and it will also have the possibility to call for a consultation with external experts wherever analysis is required.

The focus of the investigation would be twofold: checking the World Champion's claims of alleged cheating by Niemann and Niemann's self-statement regarding online cheating.

As stated by Fair Play Chairperson Salomeja Zaksaite, the FPL is ready to examine the circumstances, compile and analyze all the data and evidence available, and ascertain the facts and allegations that have been made public. The panel will ensure a fair ruling, protecting the rights of both parties during the investigation.

"In the best interest of the chess community, we would kindly ask the public to refrain from speculations on the outcomes and potential sanctions until all available facts are well considered, and a proper investigation is finalized," added Mrs Zaksaite."

I am hopeful that this committee will do good work. Salomeja Zaksaite has a doctorate in criminal law from Vilnius University focused on cheating in sports.

It's time for Carlsen to produce hard evidence that Niemann cheated over the board against him in St. Louis. If Carlsen can not definitively do that, he should be sanctioned for making a false cheating accusation. It is my understanding that any action taken by FIDE in this matter will ultimately be reviewable by the Court for Arbitration in Sport located in Lausanne.
It’s also time for MC to set aside his ‘grievances’ and to play against HN if matchups occur until such time as cheating is proven or not.

He might not like HN, he might be suspicious, but that’s no reason to not play him.

I look forward to Niemann's participation in the US Championship to be held soon in St. Louis. If Niemann does well there it will put paid to Carlsen and his unsupported accusations. Should Niemann win the tournament.......

If believing that someone cheats in a game is not a good reason to refuse to play him, I don't know what is.

This, of course, regardless of whether HN cheated or not.

A better reason would be if he was really cheating OTB. So a big LOL and a Dislike!
There you go, it works here too. That's how quickly you can form a panel. Surely that should also be possible for online chess!
@VTWood
That Fide are doing this and choosing such respected people, is a very good thing, in that I agree with you.

Salomeja Zaksaite's intellect, application of rational thought or understanding of evidence, will unlikely affect the chess.con accusers. Just look at how they have disparaged Professor Ken Regan, validly the worlds most respected anti-cheating expert, whilst having no understanding of what he does, nor proof that their assertions are correct.
The CEO Erik Allebest has now jumped into the social media aspersions arena, promoting unfounded allegations against Niemann. Hikaru went on to release his new exposé on the other potential anal devices Hans could use for cheating, even after this announcement calling for refrain from speculation.

On the other hand, perhaps Hans Niemann is proven to have cheated, it's not impossible after all.

"A big LOL "?
How old are you? Why do you talk like this?
And besides, what's even the point of your post? We are talking about Carlsen's decision, so what matters is what he thinks, regardless of whether he's right. Please, try to behave like an adult. Thank you.

I only adapt to you! Nothing to thank for! I'd love to do that!

And that's no reason not to play. I can also tell you exactly why. Because that's a killer argument. Because that way you can tell everyone that you think they are cheating and refuse to play against them.

2015 --> 7 years old Kappa

(real talk, he's close to 50)

and we don't need a panel because mods banning players online is not comparable to Carlsen-Niemann
