Fairly hilarious scenario involving chess.

Once, there was a flash mob where 200 people went to an open mic and became a raving audience cheering for one of the solo guitarists.

I thought it would be funny if a large number of Lichess people, in a coordinated act, became specatators for a low level tournament game. (Thinking sub 1300 Rapid game between 2 players in the 1400 range) I love the idea of 25-50 people watching a game between 2 people. Very Random but If there are any takers, I'll coordinate it.
Yup. I like the idea. Sign me up.

But...they'll probably just assume that they're on Lichess TV!

We'd have to fill the chat box with all kinds of unique encouragements and/or analyses for them to see when the match is done.

Lemme know when we go.
This could be highly detrimental to someone with mental health issues involving delusions of grandeur. It might seem like a fun idea but could be catastrophic for a mental health sufferer, if you chose one of their games ., Yours sincerely SOJB xxx

No dboing, flash mobbing ,they do it unexpected on the person or persons that they are doing it too , it's like a mass joke played on person or persons, I've always thought it was wrong if someone suffering delusions or as you say agoraphobia. Peace up xxx
I think I know the show you mean from about 15 years ago. They pretended to be superfans of an obscure band playing in NYC. I actually knew one of the people involved, and they did a story about it on This American Life. The organizers had good intentions and thought it would be fun to give the band the show of their lives, and it sort of worked. They also interviewed the band, however, who said it seemed really bizarre in the moment, but was also very exciting, and exactly what a band dreams about. In retrospect, when they learned that it was all staged, they felt embarrassed about it though. It was a really interesting story. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think the majority of the time it would be harmless fun, but it could backfire if the person was very sensitive, as others have pointed out. If you do it, then maybe it shouldn't be a tournament game at least.
It is a chess website, .......... let's play chess. xxx
@njswift You are correct, I saw that on youtube a long time (I think it was from 2002) The band was touring and wasn't expecting more than 1-2 people.
Happens a bit' at The US Amateur Team Tournament every year LIVE Over The Board as many teams have a fourth board around 1500 giving them 600 - 699 points to spread out over three boards over 2200 to average under 2200 ... Then many people watch board 4 games between these teams & in the Final Round the top teams may have the Last game to decide the Whole tournament on board 4 !! @juliegirl1999 it has happened ... i remember they had over 1000 teams (4000 players !) one year over President's day weekend USA EAST called The World Amateur Team Championship
