Does playing chess variants (Horde, 3 check, ...) improve standard chess skills?

Does playing chess variants (Horde, 3 check, ...) improve standard chess skills?
In-my-opinion; even if "variants" do improve "standard" chess, "standard" chess improves "standard" chess more than "variants".
@ICWiener In my opinion, they give you more types of tactics to look at, which can improve your tactical vision.

I was wondering about that as well. I know chess960 definitely improves your skills. Some strong grandmasters have stated that.
For example:

“Chess960 is healthy and good for your chess. If you get into it and not just move the pieces to achieve known positions it really improves your chess vision.”
— Levon Aronian

It's a great variant because you get different positions every game and you have to think for yourself, whereas in standard chess, you can choose to play some "system" opening like London System. You get similar positions you're familiar with every game you play it which is not good for your improvement. Even the e4 openings, which have many variations, get repetitive after you play them for some time. I've heard that some people use chess960 solely as a training tool, so it's probably good to play it.

But I don't really know about other variants. Maybe horde can help you play with pawns better? Who knows? Maybe someone more experienced can share their opinion.
@Knight04 If I play Antichess I will know what square is defended by the enemie, and I will put my pieces there,on chess I will calculate the same thing, but whitout put the piece on the square
But the best to improve standard chess is standard chess, the second place is Chess960
If anything might help your Standard chess, then Chess960.
@Knight04 Three check doesn't help you in normal games because all those manoeuvring only exists because of the Three check goal. Also arguing about Horde helping learning to understand pawn structures is no comparison to comparing pawn structures in standard games.
In my opinion, no matter what the variant is (except for chess960) it will be bad for improving your game. A couple of months ago I started playing three-check chess quite often which resulted in weeks of bad form. People may disagree but I do not play variants anymore.
