Can’t claim three fold repetition

I don’t seem to be able to claim threefold repetition anymore. Does my opponent also have to do threefold repetition or am I missing something else?

Could you link the game where you tried to claim 3 fold repetition?

I know I didn’t play properly on this game and I only joined this tournament to see how I did against better players so towards the end I just tried to get threefold repetition
The position has to repeat. That means the board has to look the same, and also have the same options of castling and en passant, and the same side to play.
Clearly you didn't achieve three-fold repetition of position in that game. Actually not even two-fold as far as I can see.

I'm not sure what is confusing here, but remember that following any capture (or pawn move) it is impossible to repeat a position from before the capture. That helps when trying to see if the position is repeated.

Regarding castling rights and 3-fold repetition, someone in another thread recently pointed out an instructive aspect of the hilarious "double bong cloud draw" between Carlsen and Nakamura:

After 6. Ke2, a draw by 3fold repetition can NOT be claimed, although the position is superficially identical to the ones after 2. Ke2 and 4. Ke2. The position after 2.Ke2 is different because Black still has castling rights, which are lost after 2. .. Ke7.
Well, both sides have to play the same position 3 times so it is threefold repetition. 3 positions isn't needed to be in a row, but can happen 3 times in a game like: 1st in 3rd move, 2nd in 23th move and 3rd in 54th move. That is also draw.
