black oppening on 1.e4

The flowchart mentioned above is somewhat of a joke. It has nice graphics but the information in it could be more detrimental than informative. Here is a sample line I took from the black perspective: Your opponent played 1.e4 --> Do you like sharp tactics? --> yes --> Do you prefer open or closed positions? --> Open positions with smooth piece play --> result: the Trompowsky?? From an 1.e4 opening??
1...e5 or Sicilian is probably best if you don't want a passive position.
every time I play Ruy Lopez I get an attacking position and Black just sits and defends. Seems passive to me
@thekid456 There's plenty of defenses black can play against the Ruy, and also, the Petrov is a thing. Even that said black has attacking options against the Ruy (3...f5, Marshall, etc)
