2+1 or 1+1 should be the default tournament timings

3+2 and 5+3 are the default FIDE time controls for the Blitz World Championship and for the Classical World Championship blitz tiebreakers.
For rapid it is 15+10 and 25+10 respectively.
@Lidraughtsorg "You sound like someone complaining that pushing a pawn to the other end of the board and getting a queen is not a real chess player."

Thats a wrong strawman. Nobody is complaining about chess rules, timing can be different, rules not.

@Mate_On_f7 I dont dislike playing without increment. In fact, most of my games probably come from playing in hourly tourney without increment. Im pointing there are some community bias towards no increment tournaments in lichess and it doesnt make sense to me.

And as @tpr noted, FIDE official rapid, blitz, bullet and armageddon matches are all with increment, to not allow skill-less flaggers to dumb down the game i guess.

@ruzgar9543 No. There is a legit elo gap between playing with increment and not. That could be worthy for another thread. The flagging strats matter most in no increment games, even more than strive for positional advantage.

This is why the famous chess streamer Hikaru never play increment games in chesscom. Only in that way he can get sometimes to nonsensical flagger boosted elos like 3200. With increment he would never ever reach that elo because draw endings would be likely drawn and lost endings would be lose. And this is why when he plays the top 10 in the world with slow or even rapid official FIDE time controls with increment he gets destroyed. Where are your 3200 elos? lol
@monosapiens I don't like games without increment either because I'm really bad in time scrambles. But if most people like 3+0 more than 3+2 or 1+0 more than 2+1 who am I to force my opinion on them? I still find enough opponents in my preferred time modes.
" Im pointing there are some community bias towards no increment tournaments in lichess and it doesnt make sense to me."

Arena's and no increment goes well together. Since, that way players tend to finish at the same time, and this makes for better/faster parings and less waiting. I am an increment fan too, but specifically for arena's, they are designed in a way that makes no increment and short time controls work better.
@Katzenschinken People prefer no increment or they just go along with it? Thats the question.

And idk, I just found recently im around 200 elo weaker playing increment because i cant flag opps in a lost position as i was used to.
@monosapiens You can create your own tournament with your preferred time mode. Hold it regularly and then you'll see if you get as many participants (or even more) than the usual Lichess tournaments that you showed in your screenshot in #13.

And with all due respect:
"And idk, I just found recently im around 200 elo weaker playing increment because i cant flag opps in a lost position as i was used to."
Doesn't that qualify you as a "skill-less flagger" too as you like to put it in an earlier post?
