9...exd4? leaves black with a bad pawn structure. Pawn d6 is backwards, isolated and on an open file. Square d5 is weak. White can play Nb1-c3-d5 to occupy an outpost in the centre. Better 9...Be7, more solid.
11 Nxc6? heals the black pawn structure. 11 Nf5 keeps the advantage.
