So many mistakes - I am really dissappointed!

#6
"The basic principle that I have been following is to always have few seconds more in my clock than that of my opponent's."
So if your opponent plays too fast, then you play too fast too. If your opponent makes mistakes because of that, you do as well.
This is the key answer to your original question. Haste makes waste.

"I am not sure how long the game will run for."
Most games are essentially decided by move 30 in the sense that one player has a huge advantage sufficient to win.

"I'd reserved my time for the end-game phase."
You then often reserve time for something that does not happen. Most games end in the middle game, or the middle game leads to a technical endgame, that you can play on technique.

"Please let me know if there is any way I could improve my time management."
Use all the time but 1 minute by move 30.
@tpr I think I have understood what you are saying. Basically, I need to think more than my opponent to make as less mistakes as possible. And I should not worry about the time remaining in my clock (at least in the beginning). Can't wait now, I gotta go and practice these tips in a real game!!!

Thanks a lot friend!

The bullet players play a whole game in 1 minute.
Usually the game is essentially decided by move 30. You should be able to convert a clearly won position in 1 minute.
Better a won position short of time than a lost position with plenty of time.
Are you playing chess or playing who plays faster?

Play chess. Play the opponent, not the clock. If you play fast, and you lose for playing fast, then there is no reason to play fast.

If you lose, and you played slowly, you were gonna lose anyways.
If a play takes 3 minutes to find, so be it. Dont be afraid to lose on time. instead, be afraid of losing BECAUSE of fast play. If you play calmly, you should have like 1 minute left with an easy to win-low calculation endgame.

I could bet that the vast majority of your loses were due a bad move played fast. Make it change to a good play from your opponent.
