Can someone help me analyzing this game for me? Thanks in advance. 1e4 e6 2. d4 c5

I played this game today. I am beginner so please pardon my ignorance. I played this game with black pieces.

Can someone please help me analyzing it. Please ignore after move 17 as I became disinterested in game after move 17.

Some questions:
After move 10 if you observe my both bishops and knight does not have much freedom to move. This is not the first time it happened.

Second question : Is 1e4 e6 2. d4 c5 a too defensive opening for black.

I would be thankful if somebody point out the key mistakes I committed in the game before move 17.

It felt like my pieces were trapped in the game.

Thanks again.
I think you should have dealt with the d4-c5 tension sooner. Your opponent didn't took advantage of it but he could have. For instance, did you look at cxd4 at move 3 ? It undermines white's center and lead to an easier developement.

Anyway once your opponent played e4-e5, center is closed and pieces can be hard to develop. However, a closed center means that you usually have time to do so.

What strikes me is that you didn't make a single move with your white bishop. A good solution may have been to play 6...Bd7 to develop it and exchange it with white's bishop in some lines.

Also 4...Ngb7 seems to be innacurate. It obsturct your bishop which is defending c5 (but once again, I think you should have done something sooner with c5).

However I think you did quite good from move 6 to 17. Attaking on the queen side where you have more space was a good idea. 14...a3, forcing whites to react on queen side and opening lines would have been a good continuation of this plan instead of pushing your king side pawns...
Your opponent didn't play the best move, 3. d5, which shows the weakness of 2...c5 (namely that it allows white to establish a strong space advantage with that advanced d pawn vs black's cramped d pawn). That alone is why you will almost never see strong players play that way.
9...c4 releases the tension too soon, better 9...Qb6 attacking both d4 and b2.
11...h6 just weakens the position of your king, better 11...b5
13...a4 has no purpose, better 13...b5 idea ...b4
15...b4 is too late as he can stop your attack with 16 a3. You had to play 15...a3 yourself.
16...bxc3 is wrong again, as after 17 bxc3 his pawns are healed, you had to play 16...a3.
17...g5 is losing. It is like the wrong idea starting 11...h6.
hi, I would just give a random opinion just out of the subject.

You started 4 months ago to play chess and you have 2000 games played. That is impressive ! If you want to improve better I deeply, deeply advice you to slow done and start studying chess instead of playing it.

Watch endgames, middle games ideas, have a general look about opening theory and play 3 or 4 game a day. Not more and you will improve faster
