I don't think there are other good ways to Improve, except Natural One. If You feel like it's good for You to Calculate right here right now, then You Improve automaticly, and it isn't hard or don't need much unnatural focusing, other ways requires unneccesary tense( which can harm health too) , and don't brings always Results, but some Players can do that , but still in long time perioud games, they have big holes too in Games.
So to Rise You need to Feel Natural and Easy to Calculate and do All, that Brings You to That State, that all that makes Sense , I think
I appreciate you making it a point for newer players to focus on blunders and mistakes rather than spending time on inaccuracies. Your articles are always incredible and much appreciated. Thank you.
I think that chess has many practical aspects like time control. I tend to think either too short (which results in mistakes) or too long (which results in good positions but also in time trouble, and time trouble leads to mistakes as well). Somewhere in the middle is the "correct" time consumption. Besides the old saying "first think, then move" is important (sometimes I move, and immediately afterwards I see that this was a mistake, this is a beginner mistake, but the funny thing is that these mistakes tend to increase during my life).
Of course tactical motifs are important but if the basic practical aspects aren't working (concentration, time control handling, first thinking/then moving) then these do not help much. I knew a player who suffered from Parkinson, he was a good player (FM), but even in long games he did not spend time to think - he moved instantly like in a Blitz game. Probably he was just not able to think for a long time (due to his condition).
Others might have ADHS or other conditions which make playing difficult.
Anyway. Have a merry Xmas!
Useful, to the point article that anyone can benefit from. I like the logical, simple manner in which it is written. Thank you for writing and posting.
