Serious question, but is there a reason to download the app when the mobile site seems to be fully functional? I've wondered this on iOS and Android.
There is no message section in the beta version. I wish I could read my messages from friends.

I dont know, but it just seems that the app is cleaner and has all the features of hte website, plus you can open it while youre offline (and play puzzles)

In line with what offensiverook44 answered, for me, the mobile web app is too crowded for a small screen.
I prefer the streamlined UI in the app. Clean and fast.
In addition, I must log on to the web version each time I load the site.
As a titled player, I have two-factor authentication (as requested by Lichess).
This means when I want to play on my iPad, I must get my iPhone for authentication, etc.

Absolutely love the changes and the app's look. Thanks to all who contribute to this project, it's truly amazing work. One thing I noticed is if you want to play "over the board" with the app, i.e. having two people sit physically opposite one another and play: as far as I can see, it is not possible for a player to resign, and leaving the game for the main menu deletes it. I would suggest to add a resign option so that one can enter analysis mode after the game and an option to save over the board games.
I'd like to create new studies and/or to edit my chess studies in the APP. Please add these features!. Thanks
