Hey there, I'm Charlie Galofre, a passionate chess coach who's dedicated to helping others improve their game. I was born in Queens, New York, but I've lived most of my life in South Florida, and I've had the chance to visit many countries in Central and South America. I even lived in Bogota, Colombia for a few years.
I started playing chess as a kid, but I got serious about the game in seventh grade when I started playing online through Mplayer.com on Chessmaster. Since then, I've played in over 120 tournaments and achieved the title of FIDE Master (FM) with a peak rating of 2364. But my real passion is coaching. I have 22 students, and I love helping them become more principled and fundamental players.
One thing I'm really proud of is my dedication to learning and improving my own game. I'm a full-time student of chess, and I'm always seeking out new information and approaches to the game. I believe that hard work and dedication are the keys to success, both in chess and in life. That's why I encourage my students to do the same and provide them with the resources they need to improve their skills on their own.
When I'm not coaching or playing chess, I enjoy watching food channels, listening to instrumental music, and even exploring my interest in becoming an art appraiser. But my true passion will always be chess, and I'm determined to continue improving my own skills and helping others do the same.
If you're looking for a passionate and dedicated chess coach who can help you take your game to the next level, look no further than me. With my expertise and guidance, you can unlock your full potential and achieve greater things.
About me
Playing experience
I've played in 126 tournaments so far, and I'm always looking for new opportunities to compete and improve my game. One of my most memorable moments was in 2007, when I won a tournament in Las Vegas with a score of 5.5 out of 6, essentially becoming a master after that tournament. Later that same year, I played in the U2400 section of the World Open tournament in Philadelphia and got second place with a score of 6.5 out of 9, earning the title of FIDE Master (FM).
Aside from my tournament achievements, I've also spent a lot of time studying and analyzing the game. I've made spreadsheets of different calculations to understand what I need to do best to see the results I want to get. And as a coach, I've helped many of my students achieve their own goals.
Overall, I believe that my playing experience and achievements have given me a strong foundation to build on as a coach. I'm always learning and growing, and I'm excited to help my students do the same.

Teaching experience
I've been coaching chess since 2001, and I'm proud to have helped many students improve their game and achieve their goals. I am in the process of getting accreditations from the USCF and FIDE. However nothing replaces my experience, my accomplishments, and titles which took a considerable amount of time to achieve.
Over the years, I've developed my own unique approach to coaching that emphasizes fundamental principles and clear, concise explanations. I believe that the key to success in chess is understanding the game at a deep level and being able to apply that understanding to any situation. That's why I work closely with my students to help them build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that they can rely on in any game.
Overall, I believe that my years of experience, credentials, and track record of success make me an excellent choice for anyone looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable chess coach. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, I'm confident that I can help you take your game to the next level.
