About me

I am a Woman FIDE Master (WFM) from Vietnam and a FIDE-rated competitive chess player. I have been playing chess since childhood and have developed a strong passion for both competitive chess and helping others understand the game more deeply.

Outside chess, I work in finance and business consulting, which has strengthened my analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and communication skills. I offer online chess lessons in both English and Vietnamese.

Playing experience

I hold the Woman FIDE Master (WFM) title and have extensive experience playing competitive, FIDE-rated chess.

Through tournament play, I have developed practical experience in opening preparation, tactical calculation, positional play, middlegame planning, endgames, time management, and decision-making under pressure.

My competitive experience allows me to teach not only theoretical concepts, but also how to apply them effectively in real games.

Teaching experience

I am currently expanding my experience in structured online chess coaching, with a focus on beginner and developing club-level players.

My lessons are designed around the student’s own games, strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Rather than simply giving the correct moves, I focus on helping students understand their mistakes, improve their thinking process, and become more independent players.

I am comfortable teaching in both English and Vietnamese and can adapt my explanations to different ages and learning styles.

Other experiences

Outside chess, I have a professional background in finance, investment analysis, and business consulting.

My work requires analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly. I bring the same approach to chess coaching by breaking difficult positions and concepts into understandable steps.

I am also comfortable working in an international environment and communicating professionally in English.

Best skills

My main strengths are tactical calculation, practical decision-making, game analysis, positional understanding, and identifying recurring mistakes in a player’s games.

As a teacher, I am particularly good at breaking complex ideas into clear and practical steps. I focus on helping students understand why a move or plan works rather than asking them to memorize answers.

I can help students improve their:

* tactical awareness and calculation
* thinking process and candidate move selection
* positional understanding and planning
* opening principles and preparation
* practical endgames
* time management
* post-game analysis
* overall training structure

Teaching methodology

I begin by understanding the student’s current level, goals, and playing habits. We then review several recent games to identify the most important weaknesses and create a personalized improvement plan.

A typical lesson includes:

1. Review of recent games and recurring mistakes
2. One focused topic based on the student’s needs
3. Interactive positions and calculation exercises
4. Practical examples and guided thinking
5. Clear homework or training tasks for the next lesson

I prefer an interactive approach. Instead of immediately showing the best move, I ask students to explain what they see, generate candidate moves, calculate variations, and make a decision. We then compare their thought process with stronger alternatives.

My goal is not just to help students play better moves during the lesson, but to give them a repeatable thinking process that they can use independently in future games.
