About me

👋 Hi, my name is Andrija Obad, and I am 54 years old. I'm a FIDE Master, and in love with chess for years. ❤️

Playing experience

Since my youth, I have played in many national and international tournaments. I have won awards for many of them 🏆. Of course, I spent countless hours playing casual chess, especially blitz 😉.

Teaching experience

For years, I have been working as a chess coach. In addition, I have been working for a couple of years with a respectable company that provides chess coaching services. Over the years, I've trained dozens of students and had a rich and exciting coaching experience.
For example, I had the privilege of being the coach of two young, talented boys for a year or two. Both have progressed well. One of them was a multiple champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina in his age group.
I am happy to say that my students have improved their chess knowledge, understanding, and quality of play. Of course, in most cases, their rating has increased 📈.

Best skills

As a chess player, I believe my strengths 🐘, despite some flaws 😔, lie in my persistence (I never give up lightly), versatile style, and strong play in tactical and attacking positions.
As a coach, I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere 🌄 while being persistent and thorough in gradually building up my students' skills 🧱. I am confident in my ability to prepare students for chess games, which includes theoretical preparation for specific opponents.

Teaching methodology

First, as a coach, I insist on a warm, friendly, and relaxed relationship with my students 🌅. Appropriate and delicate humor is always a good spice.
Although persistent and like to teach thoroughly, I have learned to be patient. That way, I strive to build up my students gradually. I am sure that only in such an atmosphere can they UNDERSTAND 😮 and ENJOY 😊 while learning.
