Playing experience
Playing chess since 2014. FIDE-rated 2108 (peak 2241), holder of the Candidate Master (CM) title. Represent West Bengal in national-level tournaments. Key results: 12th place at the National Under-15 Championship, and 6th place at the Delhi International Chess Tournament 2019.
Teaching experience
I've been coaching for 3 years, training players rated 1400–1800 as well as beginners, and I also provide 1:1 private lessons to FIDE-rated players. As an engineering student, I bring a strong focus on critical thinking and decision-making to my teaching — helping students understand the "why" behind moves, not just memorize lines.
Other experiences
Run a chess YouTube channel creating tactics, opening, and game-analysis content (Shorts and long-form), with growing viewership. Also build chess-related software tools alongside my Computer Science studies, combining a technical and analytical approach to chess improvement.
Best skills
Strong tactical vision and calculation, backed by a FIDE 2108 rating (peak 2241) and Candidate Master title. As a coach, my strength is breaking down positions into clear, logical decision-making — explaining why a move matters, not just what to play. Several of my students have shown strong progress under this approach, with some reaching a 1600 rating from lower starting points. My engineering background adds a structured, critical-thinking edge to how I teach.
Teaching methodology
As a science/engineering student, I strongly believe in teaching the logic behind every move — not just the move itself. In each lesson, I go into fine detail on why a particular move matters, discussing the reasoning step by step. This is a skill that transfers beyond chess too — the same discipline of asking "why" applies to problem-solving in general.
Every student is different. I first understand their playing style, then decide what material to give them based on which areas they're weak in. Lessons cover tactics, openings, and endgames tailored to that assessment, with homework and follow-up review to track progress
