About me
I'm a former diplomat with a Master's degree in Economics and Management, having lived and worked in five countries across different cultures. My professional experience has honed my strategic thinking and decision-making, skills I now apply to chess. As your coach, I'll teach you not just how to win on the board, but how to think critically and strategically in life. Let's elevate your game to the next level!
Playing experience
I earned the title of FIDE Master while simultaneously pursuing a successful diplomatic career, balancing both my professional and chess passions. I've won numerous Blitz, Rapid, and classical tournaments in Macedonia and internationally. Even while living abroad, I never stepped away from the game, representing clubs such as Metz Fischer (France), Dudelange (Luxembourg), Bredene (Belgium), and Wurselen (Germany). Over the years, I've built strong friendships with renowned grandmasters like Alexander Beliavsky, Boris Gelfand, and Vladimir Potkin, enriching my chess journey.
Teaching experience
In my early years, I trained the pioneers of Bitola, leading them to win the Macedonian Championship and compete in the former Yugoslavia final. I had the privilege of working with future GM Vlatko Bogdanovski, Lidija Sofrevska, a multiple-time Macedonian champion, and Blagoja Gicev, one of our brightest talents. Later, while living abroad, I coached young players from chess clubs in France, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Many diplomats also discovered their love for chess through my lessons, combining strategic thinking with the joy of the game.
Other experiences
I was chairing the Working Group for trade liberalization and facilitation. The main result of the Group was building a network of Free Trade Agreements in the region of South Eastern Europe. My last post was Chair of the ACMF (Advisory Committee for Management and Finance) within the OSCE.
Best skills
As a coach, I focus on developing mental strength, psychological stability, and a deep understanding of chess, which I believe are essential for success both on and off the board. My expertise lies in positional chess, where careful planning and strategic foresight are key. I excel at helping beginners choose the right openings and mastering endgame basics, ensuring a strong foundation for long-term growth. My teaching approach nurtures patience, critical thinking, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, all of which are vital in chess and life.
Teaching methodology
My teaching methodology is a blend of the Yugoslav and Russian chess schools, shaped by years of studying their classic chess literature. While living and working in Moscow for four years, I immersed myself in the Russian approach, known for its deep focus on strategy and disciplined study techniques. I adapt my methods to each student’s unique needs and goals—whether they’re aiming for competitive success or simply enjoying the game. By tailoring lessons, I ensure that every student builds a strong foundation while developing their own style and strengths.
