About me
I am a National Master from England. I'm currently rated around 2170 FIDE and my peak was 2300 FIDE back in 1987.
Playing experience
I have been playing tournament chess for over 40 years and continue to play actively in Open tournaments around Europe, in the UK 4NCL national league, and in the local league. I played in the British Championship in 1986 and 2012.
Teaching experience
I have 5 years of coaching experience, teaching students of all ages from 7 to 70. Most of my students have been rated between 1300 and 2000 and I have helped many to make significant improvements in their results. A number of my students have been with me for several years.
Teaching methodology
Ideally I like to have recent games available, which I will analyse before the lesson so that we can use the lesson time most effectively to review the games and identify and discuss learning points. I am flexible and happy to go over specific opening, middlegame or endgame topics if requested by students. Some of my students like to get additional homework positions to solve between lessons, which I am happy to provide.
