The Chess.com Global Championship Knockout 2022 is a knockout tournament, held from September 14th to October 9th online on chess.com. Top 8 players will advance from the knockout to compete in OTB finals in Toronto, Canada, starting on November 2nd.

Matches consist of four 15+2 rapid games. Time control is 15 minutes for the entire game with a 2-second increment beginning from move one.

Should a match end in a tie, an Armageddon game shall be played. White gets 15 minutes and must win, with a bidding system to determine who plays Black with draw odds. Players communicate privately the amount of time they are willing to get to play as Black; the lower time offered wins the bid, and that player starts with the amount of time bid. If the bid is tied, the higher-seeded player chooses the color.
