  1. Mennonite 7.Be3 or Be2? Six of one, half a dozen of the other...
  2. Mennonite in exchange for decimating my pawns, i have the bishop pair and a slight developmental advantage. but he'll catch up easily enough.
  3. Mennonite not sure there's a rush to develop the DSB. I want to leave a3 covered, and his position is solid enough that there's no clear target yet
  4. Mennonite a4 is an idea. Ba3 just induces d6 so it's not a threat. and b5 isn't a real threat yet
  5. Mennonite however, d6 does weaken b7. I don't know yet if I want to concentrate my army on the queenside. Seems too fluid to commit anywhere.
  6. Mennonite his queen is somewhat low on squares. so I'm thinking a combination of a4, Ba3, Bf3, and Rb1 or Re1 are promising.
  7. bushie123 hello Merlyn!
  8. bushie123 I could use some advise on my style for later!
  9. Mennonite ok, time to start harassing his queen before he has time to clear more escape squares.
  10. bushie123 .. maybe that was a mistake .. d5 .. too aggressive ..
  11. bushie123 .. but, let's make the best use of it .. rook goes back to g8..
  12. Mennonite I'm not sure I have a way to pull off a direct assault yet, but my long term chances are quite good against this structure.
  13. Mennonite i do need to be wary of a counterattack down the g file of course
  14. bushie123 ... i think this will be a decisive game ..
  15. bushie123 ... i.e. me getting drubbed pretty decisively .. rofl !
  16. Mennonite considering Qd3, but inducing ...f5 just opens up a pathway for his queen to quickly join the attack
  17. Mennonite maybe Qf4 is best, keeping that diagonal covered. I need not fear tradeoffs with my strong position.
  18. Mennonite this also keeps the bishop off f5. I need to solve the issue of my own LSB though. It's just in the way.
  19. bushie123 ... i really want to see how a 2k+ drubs me ..
  20. bushie123 .. maybe there is something to learn there !
  21. bushie123 .. i dont' see the logic behind this Qf4 .. what's the point ? if only i can figure it out .. ?
  22. bushie123 .. we know where this is going .. Re1 .. Be6 ..
  23. Mennonite I don't want to completely abandon the queenside, but I feel like vigorous play is needed, so I'll go ahead and double rooks
  24. Mennonite if he goes pawn hunting on the queenside, I think I can gang up on f7 and break through
  25. bushie123 .. dark squares are weak..
  26. bushie123 .. .should they give up the exch .. ? i don't see value ..
  27. Mennonite oh. this is quite resilient. I wonder if I need to sac the exchange to break through.
  28. Mennonite worth noting I also have a weak back rank to contend with at some point
  29. bushie123 .. aha .. h6 is weak .. they may try to give up the LSB to get the rook to h3 ?
  30. Mennonite Bd3 might be the more accurate move order here, but I need to calculate further
  31. bushie123 .. i wonder if I have Rg6 .. Qa5 .. Rg8 ..
  32. bushie123 .. gonna make him want to give up his Rook for my LSB .. lol ..
  33. bushie123 .. feels wrong to allow the check .. try and get my Q to g5 ..
  34. Mennonite oh shoot, I think I just let him back into the game. It's okay, no need to panic.
  35. Mennonite I think I'd like to trade off one pair of rooks but not both. Too many weak pawns I can target.
  36. Mennonite maybe I can attack along the f file? also f takes allows my king access to kf2. but it seems so counterintuitive
  37. Mennonite but I'm low on time and I need to make a decision one way or the other
  38. Mennonite yeah, I think I captured the right way
  39. Mennonite I can't take. He's defending well.
  40. bushie123 .. merlyn .. this is _not_ that interesting .. go to bed!
  41. Mennonite I guess I could take it and end up with my rook passive on c1. Too high a price to pay.
  42. Mennonite I'm thinking Kf6 would be best for him
  43. Mennonite I need to be realistic that at this point, my pawn structure is actually the weaker of the two.
  44. Mennonite I might be able to move my rook away since he has no entry points into my position
  45. Mennonite no, he's too solid on the b file.
  46. Mennonite just declined a draw. it may well be one but I enjoy endgames and want to at least see.
  47. bushie123 .. alright. opponent is not interested in a draw .. this will go all the way!
  48. bushie123 .. test of endgame theory ..
  49. Mennonite maybe Bh5 and I can somehow zug him?
  50. bushie123 .. gonna keep that pawn on h6 .. have to have to keep the king from infliltrating ..
  51. Mennonite maybe i'm just losing
  52. Mennonite I think he has more spare tempi available
  53. Mennonite g5 either won or lost on the spot and i didn't leave my self enough time to see it through
  54. bushie123 .... gaaaaaah!
  55. bushie123 .. Opposition 101 .. !
  56. Mennonite I don't think I can lose as long as I don't allow his king access to f5
  57. bushie123 terrible terrible terrible .. :(
  58. bushie123 :face_palm: beyond ..
  59. Mennonite looks like I pressed too hard for the win
  60. bushie123 you did great Mennoite ..
  61. Mennonite I've had a really disappointing Lonewolf season so far and honestly I think I let that inluence my decisionmaking like on move 34
  62. Mennonite I liked the counterplay you set up along the g file in the middlegame. Definitely turned the pawn weaknesses into a strength
  63. bushie123 i have no idea why c5 is winning ..
  64. Mennonite looks like it sets up b4
  65. Mennonite and you can sac to force promote the a pawn
  66. bushie123 oh, lol ... that was completely an oversight .. d5 was terrible idea .. as soon as you took the knight .. i was like .. what have i done
  67. Mennonite the computer doesn't think it's so bad for you
  68. Mennonite which surprises me, it feels positionally crushing
  69. bushie123 i just don't know how to handle endgames .. i get drubbed pretty well before we get there .. so ..
  70. Mennonite i know the feeling
  71. Mennonite i'm not great at them either, but i find them fascinating
  72. Mennonite what i don't get is how the computer wants 45...Ke6 for you
  73. Mennonite i assumed i would just win if i won the h pawn there
  74. bushie123 yeah. its the same a pawn idea ..
  75. bushie123 i just didn't see a way through the wall of pawns
  76. bushie123 c5 .. breakthrough idea ..
  77. Mennonite looks like we were both looking at the exchange sac on move 19
  78. bushie123 anyway chief .. you're responsible for teaching me a new word today .. i had no idea what Mennonite meant .. now I think I do?
  79. Mennonite computer thinks it would have been ok... that was my intuition... i just didn't see a clear way forward, and didn't want to open up lines
  80. bushie123 ha. exactly !!
  81. bushie123 i was tempting you with it ..
  82. Mennonite lol. I was thinking about becoming a Mennonite at the time I made this account. That didn't happen but now I'm stuck with the name LOL
  83. bushie123 I just did not c5 after move 36 ..
  84. bushie123 *not see ..
  85. Mennonite i saw the general idea but didn't think it worked at that exact moment
  86. bushie123 I don't understand the positional idea .. fish thinks i am up 3 pawns but i dont' see it ..
  87. Mennonite but apparently it did
  88. Mennonite i can explain i think
  89. Mennonite you play ...d4 and if cxd4, you play ...b4
  90. Mennonite and i can't prevent pawn promotion on the a file
  91. Mennonite basically it doesn't matter how many pawns you can sac if you can force a promotion
  92. Mennonite it's called a breakthrough motif
  93. bushie123 yeah, a4 was a fantastic idea .. pushing that pawn as far fwd as possible
  94. bushie123 i just needed to find a way to dislodge c3 pawn and push b4 .. ?
  95. bushie123 yep. one for the notebooks ..
  96. Mennonite that's why i was starting to panic because my only pieces were my bishop and king on vacation on the other side of the board
  97. bushie123 but sir .. you're a true legend ..
  98. Mennonite and i had no way to stop the promotion because my c2 pawn blocked the bishop from getting to b1
  99. bushie123 yeah, i am a bit of a nimzo guy ..
  100. bushie123 i like those doubled c pawns i can target but i never had my knight .. so ..
  101. Mennonite i didn't think the doubled pawns would matter early on because i had such a lead in development
  102. Mennonite well i need to head out
  103. Mennonite thanks for the game and for going over it!
  104. bushie123 ack. ditto ..
  105. bushie123 g'night .. and hope you can teach me some lessons some other time !
  106. Mennonite definitely, see you around!
