  1. TinsyNub (6) did not prepare for english opening. i have some experience playing slav def but not comfortable
  2. Mennonite hey gav, prepped against a Budapest until I realized he hadn't played it in a couple years
  3. Mennonite if this was bullet I'd play Ne5, if this was blitz I'd play Qb3
  4. gavalanche20 (7...Bg4) hey hey
  5. TinsyNub (9) 9 moves in and pos looks complicated alr. going to be hard to play this out against a stronger opp
  6. Mennonite cxd5 seems right, but at the same time, I was hoping to leave the tension in place longer.
  7. Mennonite issue being if he trades queens I don't have a lot in the way of pawn breaks...
  8. Mennonite maybe 12.h3 is simplest here.
  9. Mennonite i've achieved my goal, which is making the d6 square available, now how can I make use of it?
  10. TinsyNub (14) somehow holding this position evenly. will be a sharp middlegame with bishop vs knight
  11. TinsyNub (14.2) up a lot on the clock here. wonder if this will turn into blitz game later on. maybe play quickly and try punish?
  12. Mennonite very surprised to see 16...Rac8 played instantly.
  13. TinsyNub (16) first mistake? b7 pawn is dropping after knight exchange. got the weak dark squares again so could be falling into the samematingnet
  14. Mennonite obviously I want to avoid trading minors here
  15. Mennonite 17.Nd6 Rc2 seems iffy. Maybe just drop the knight to c3, I still have weaknesses to target, namely the queenside pawns to start with
  16. TinsyNub (17) dropping a pawn here. way too quick on playing rac8 earlier. might just play to flag
  17. TinsyNub (20) no flagging chances with endgame coming up. will need to hope
  18. Mennonite Rd3 seems like the move to hold it together. just not sure what kind of future the rook would hold after that
  19. Mennonite I was tempted to just liquidate the queenside, but no rush - that a pawn doesn't have a future.
  20. Mennonite I do want to keep an eye out for ...Nc5 tactics discovering an attack on a1. I think that's what intuitively felt wrong with Rd3.
  21. Mennonite is 21...Rxd3 22.Rxd3 Nc5 already possible?
  22. TinsyNub (21) i think this is the only move that holds the position? nothing else seems to work. knight is terrible here
  23. Mennonite thankfully they're not opposite colored this time
  24. Mennonite i'm sure there's a more active way to play but I don't want to burn all my remaining time
  25. TinsyNub (28) this might be it. need to calculate endgame after rxb3
  26. Mennonite R8xb3 and I think I first check
  27. TinsyNub (28) think i am losing end game but will play it out for hope
  28. TinsyNub probably trading bishop off for d-pawn
  29. Mennonite 31...Kf8 32.Bc5+
  30. Mennonite 35..Ke7 36. d8=Q Kxd8 37. Ra7+
  31. TinsyNub (38) not worth playing thiss out after ra7+. i fought well to try and keep it even
  32. TinsyNub will be interesting post analysis
  33. TinsyNub i thought i might have had it covered in time
  34. TinsyNub but i guess myking was just not placed well enough
  35. TinsyNub i was thinking if kf8 you would just go bc5+ and i am forced back
  36. TinsyNub pretty accurate game from you though
  37. Mennonite I was really nervous about 15.e4
  38. TinsyNub i mean i think it was your only move right?
  39. TinsyNub i realised i messed up with rac8 because my b7 pawn hangs
  40. TinsyNub after a couple of exchanges
  41. Mennonite my pawn structure was shattered and I thought if you captured on e4 or even just played Nd5, I would have a hard time generating enough
  42. Mennonite minor piece activity for the isolated d pawn plus isolated doubled b pawns
  43. TinsyNub ah, apparently i missed nd5
  44. Mennonite surprised the computer doesn't like 12.h3
  45. Mennonite I did consider 12.Ne5 but just couldn't calculate the line far enough to feel comfortable playing git
  46. TinsyNub were you planning on playing english opening regardless?
  47. TinsyNub i didn't look at your c4 openings
  48. Mennonite honestly, no
  49. Mennonite I had looked at the Budapest but I realized that you had switched to other openings more recently
  50. TinsyNub i was only preparing for some sort of qgd and sicilian najdorf
  51. TinsyNub yeah i used to play budapest in blitz/bullet
  52. Mennonite and I didn't feel comfortable in any of those so just played something quiet
  53. TinsyNub i don't like playing gambits in classical though
  54. Mennonite I used to play it OTB 15-20 years ago but no longer think it's sound
  55. TinsyNub okay thank you for the game man. i gotta go do some stuff
  56. Mennonite ok take care
  57. TinsyNub good luck in future rounds!
  58. Mennonite you too!
