Mobile App Public Beta - Screenshots of new app

The new mobile app!

ChessLichessSoftware Development
It's here, at least partially...

We're pleased to announce that after one and a half years of full time development by our mobile developer @veloce and other contributors from our open-source community, we are releasing the new Lichess mobile app in public beta. Funding this development was only possibly due to the generous support of our patrons, so thank you! If you would also like to support Lichess work, you can become a patron too.

Currently this is limited to Android but the iOS version should follow in the next few months. You can download the Android version here!

So, what do you get?

  • play real time or correspondence chess
  • solve chess puzzles from a wide variety of themes, online or offline
  • race against the clock in Puzzle Storm
  • analyse your games with Stockfish 16 locally or Stockfish 16.1 on the server
  • watch Lichess TV and online streamers
  • use a chess clock for your over the board games
  • many different board themes and piece sets
  • system colours on Android 12+
  • translated into 55 languages

And as always with Lichess, it's totally free, for everyone, forever!

It's still in beta!

If you run into bugs, please feel free to provide bug reports on the GitHub development page or via our discord or forum. Other features will follow as our developer and volunteers continue to improve the app.

What about the old app?

We're not getting rid of it, and it's still available for everyone, for compatibility and stability. Active development is only ongoing for the new app though so if you want the latest updates, the new app will be where to find them.

Lichess is a charity and entirely free/libre open source software.
All operating costs, development, and content are funded solely by user donations.
