VANTAGE: Your Private, Offline "Single File" Database for OTB & Master Games

At some point, I considered building PGN importing directly into LiPulse, but I realized: It felt wrong.

LiPulse is designed for the fast-paced world of online chess - tracking friends, checking status, and analyzing online games. Cramming a heavy database of tournament games into that ecosystem would have diluted its purpose.

Serious study requires a different environment. Whether you are analyzing your own OTB games or deconstructing a legendary tournament like Zurich 1953, you need a dedicated laboratory.
So, I split the project.

Meet VANTAGE.

It shares the same idea as LiPulse - it is a Single File Application that runs 100% in your browser - but it is built for the serious student of the game.

1. Your Data, Your Drive

Just like LiPulse, VANTAGE uses IndexedDB to create a persistent database inside your browser with no backend.
You can drag and drop your own tournament history, but it shines just as bright as a library for Master games.

Found a PGN file of "Fischer’s Best Games" or the entire "Candidates 2024"? Drop it in. It is parsed instantly, stored locally, and ready for deep exploration.

2. A Distraction-Free Environment

I designed the interface to be a focused workspace. It defaults to a high-contrast "Cyber" dark mode, perfect for a second monitor while you study.
I also added a subtle "Hero" feature. By entering a name (e.g., "Bronstein" or your own), the database orients the stats and the Evaluation bar to that player's point of view, making it easier to understand their decisions.

3. Deep Analysis

You do not need to export to Lichess to check a tactical slip or verify a Grandmaster's calculation. VANTAGE includes a WASM (WebAssembly) Stockfish integration directly in the file.

- Native Analysis: Get multi-line analysis, best-move arrows, and evaluations directly in the dashboard.
- Annotation: You can write comments, add NAGs (!!, ?), and draw arrows on the board.
Note: Your insights are persistent. Just hit the Quick Save button, and your arrows and comments are written to the local database forever.

4. Dynamic Tag Filtering

While it shares logic with LiPulse, VANTAGE uses a different filtering engine designed for PGN metadata.
It automatically detects every tag in your uploaded PGNs.
This means if your PGN file contains specific tags like "ECO", "Round", or even custom tags, you can filter by them immediately. You can cross-reference your study material easily:
"Show me every game where Kasparov played the King's Indian Defense between 1990 and 1995."

The tool remains Open Source by design.
While you can save the HTML file locally for a purely offline database experience, I recommend using the live link below for analysis.
Why? The built-in Stockfish engine relies on external WASM files. On the website, these load automatically for you. If you were to run it strictly offline, you would need to manually download and manage the engine dependencies.
