Tata Steel chess tournament, also known as the Wimbledon of chess is the most prestigious tournament in the calender year, which is held in Wijk aan zee Netherlands, every single year. This tournament features a master section featuring the top 14 players in the world and another 14 challengers in the challenger section. the winner of the challenger section will eventually, play in the masters next year. for the 2024, it is held as the 86th Tata Steel chess tournament.

History
The 1st ever Tata Steel was held in the year 1938. back in tha day it was named as Hoogovenstoernooi Beverwijk which mean the Blast Furnace tournament in Beverwijk. it was won by 2 chess masters named Philip Bakker and Jilling van Dijk from the Netherlands.
After 1967, this tournament is named as Hoogovenstoernooi Wijk aan zee which means the Blast Furnace tournament in Wijk aan zee. it was won by Victor Korchnoi.
In the year 2000 it names as the Coros Tournament. it was won by Garry Kasperov.
In the yeat 2011 it finally named as the Tata Steel chess tournament, it was won by Hikaru Nakamura.

Favourite event of a World champion
The first World chess champion to win Tata Steel was Max Euwe who had won the title in 1940,1942,1952 and 1958.
Since then, instead of Vasily Smyslov, Bobby fisher and Ding Liren every world champion had win Tata Steel numerous times. Including, Mikhail Botvinnik, Michael Tal, Tigran Petrosian,Boris Spassky,Anatoly Karpov,Garry Kasperov,Vladimir Kramnik,Vishwanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen
Most number of Tata Steel title holder is Magnus Carlsen who has won 8 times in 2008,2010,2013,2015,2016,2018,2019 and 2022
Vishwanathan Anand holds the 2nd place in the list by winning Tata Steel 5 times in 1989,1998,2003,2004 and 2006.
