Ding Liren was born in WenZhou at the year 24 October 1992. He is the highest rated chinese grandmaster in history and also, the 3 time chinese chess champion. he had a 100 game unbeaten winning streak and that is the 2nd highest winning streak after the goat, Magnus Carlsen. Ding liren is also known as the Magnus Carlsen's Kryptonite.
He's road to the world championship was very hard. he didnt have a place in the candidates due to the high restriction in china due to covid 19. but, unlikly sergey karjakin. was banned from fide for 6 months. this helped ding liren to participate in the candidates as the highest rated player which was never exist. to play in that manner he have to play at least 30 games in the last year. but he had play only 2, so he had to play 28 games within 30 days. he completed that in 3 chess tournaments as 13 wins 15 draw and 0 loses.
Then after that he went to Madrid in Spain to play the candidates. on the very first round, he met Ian Nepomniachtchi and it was a disasterous loss. It was a disaster in the 1st half of the double round robin. in the 2nd half, he beat Jan Kazysztof Duda, Richard Rapport, Fabiano Caruana. and on the 14th round ina must win situation, he beat Hikaru Nakamura and finished as the 2nd in the candidates.
But, as in the fide rules, only the champion can play in the world chess championship against the reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen. But, very unlikely, Magnus refuce to defend his title this time. before the candidates, he told that he would not defend his title if not Alireza Firouzja. so Ding Liren had a chance to play in the world chess championship against Ian Nepomniachtchi.
The world chess championship was very hard for Ding liren. untill 11 round in the WCC Ding was only trailing. but, in the shocking fashion, in the 12th game, the Blunder f5 played by Nepo saves ding from being losing. after the best of 14 rounds the scores was 7-7. so they went to a tiebreak match.
They have to play 4 game with the rapid potion and one of the have to win at least 2.5 games to be the world champion. if that is also a draw, for the very first time in a world chess championship, they must have to go to a blitz potion. first 3 games was draw. everyone thought the 4th game also be very unlikely a draw. but in a shocking fashion in the 46th move in the game, instead of repeating the position, Ding Liren play the move Rg6 and he is trying to win with black. that risk make him to win in the final game in the rapid potion and win the World Championship title.
