Weekly summary and analysis #1

ChessAnalysis
Difficult beginnings in the new year.

Introduction

In today's post I will summarize my first week of the new year. I plan to do such summaries every week so that I know what I need to work on and can see my progress or regression.

This week I played 5 games on chess.com at 15+10 tempo, and as planned I played one game a day. After each game I did a quick review of the game.

Game analysis

Today at the end of the week, after playing all the games of the week, I did a deeper analysis of the games. Of course, it is not as accurate as the analysis of the classical game, where I analyze without the engine at the beginning. Here I analyzed with the help of the engine.

During the analysis I check if I played the opening according to my studies. Then I look for moments where I made a mistake or failed to take advantage of my opponent's mistake. I transfer all these mistakes and oversights to a special study on Lichess called "Mistakes". In the study, I sort them by type (for example: tactic, incorrect counting of variants, opening, endgame). That way I know what I have problems with and what I need to work on.

Statistics

Week #1:
January 1st ---> January 5th
Wins: 0 | Draws: 1 | Loses: 4
Ranking: 1925 ---> 1903
Ranking change: -22
Performance: 1768
Average accuracy: 85.4%

Conclusion

I have problems with losing pieces and endgames. I also have mental problems because of so many losses. I want to win the drawn positions at all costs, which makes me lose.

This week I made the following mistakes:

Type of mistakeHow many
Losing piece2
Losing pawn2
Endgame3
Overlooking the opponent's sacrifice2
Evaluating position2

This week I missed the following opponent's mistakes:

Type of missed mistakeHow many
Winning piece1
Winning pawn1

As you can see I have problems mainly with losing pieces and endgames. Thanks to analyzing all games I know that next week I need to practice endgames and solve a lot of tactical puzzles. I also have problems with evaluating positions so I will use Guess the Evaluation training method.

You can check my games from this week here.

Ending

As you can see, this is not the best start to the new year. However, I hope that the training I started a few days ago will soon bring results.

That's all for today's blog post. If you liked this method leave a heart so I know you want to see more methods like this.
