Visualization mode added to Chess Count Quiz

Software DevelopmentChess variantPuzzle
Chess Count Quiz now has a new visualization feature. Instead of asking you to count moves in the current position, it can give you a list of moves and ask you to count in the future position, after those moves are played.

You can't play what you don't see. - NM Dan Heisman

Chess Count Quiz is a simple open source chess quiz webpage designed to help players improve their board vision. Instead of asking players to pick the best move, it simply asks players to count how many legal moves exist of a given type (checks, captures, and/or all legal moves, at the user's option).

It may seem like an odd hobby to have, but I think it's actually very valuable practice. See my earlier short blog posts here and here for some details.

New feature

After about a year of doing moving counting, I got bored and wanted to make it a little harder. Now in the app's settings panel, you can select how many ply into the future you want to visualize. For instance, in this screenshot, I have set it to visualize 4 plies ahead.

Above, the user has to look at the position, imagine the board after white and black play their moves, and then count how many checks and captures.

For me, I'm significantly slower and more error-prone when I set it to just 2 ply ahead. I hope I can improve my board vision and visualization by practicing in this mode.
