I Will Never Again Play a Move as Beautiful as This

ChessAnalysisTactics
A real game position, that could be a puzzle instead

Do you know the Gold Coins Game? One of the most famous chess games ever. With arguably the most beautiful move ever played. If you don't know what move I'm talking about, Frank Marshall, while already up a piece, played a move so stunning, the legend says spectators thre gold coins at the board!

The queen can be captured three different ways, and none of them work! This move is so beautiful!

Now I want to tell you, I played a move, that's just as insane as this one!

Insane games start with insane openings

I'm still searching for something against e4. I finally have a complete dynamic repertoire against d4, c4, Nf3-g3/c4/b3. Even a fun line against f4, you name it! But not against the most popular starting move :(

And this game is a result of that. I thought to myself: "are there any interesting gambits against e4?". And one answer came to mind.

With no real experience in 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 with either color, and 0 lines reviewed lines, I don't see how this can go wrong. (btw I played the dubious Stafford Gambit, the same way Frank Marshall played the dubious Marshall Gambit)

My opponent isn't afraid. He takes on the challenge. But goes wrong very quickly.

Ne4!! second time's the charm haha. Even though I win a pawn, I gambited one at the start of the game, so material is still equal.

Objectively the position is balanced, but I don't care about that. There is only one thing on my mind - how can I get my pieces to the king side? How can I play Ng4-Qh4? How can I lauch an attack?

h3 - bingo! This is how I'm gonna attack, Be6-Qd7, and hope my opponent gets busy with development.

Kingside avalanche

And well... That's exactly what happened.

Bxh3 is the kind of move you don't have to calculate, it just feels right. Like all the pieces are looking at h2, this must work.

But enough about that easy sacrifice. Now I challenge you to find my own Gold Coins Move. (from the position above)

If you said Re3!! I'm impressed, but no.

I mean... this move does deliver mate a move faster than mine does, but it's not as pretty :p

Re1!! I mean what a move. Empty square as deep in enemy's teritory as possible. Defended 3 times! But neither capture works. Game link.

Thank you for reading <3

A short blog on a short game. But I really think it's worth sharing. I do have another blog ready, with a few more cool games, but I'm still thinking about what should the thumbnail look like. Btw this one is heavily inspired by AI (not made by AI, all work is done by me). With how much AI thumbnails there are lately, I think I'll add my opinion.

I don't think using AI to help you is wrong. I often use AI to look for words, and rewrite sentences, that don't quite flow right. I code with AI. And sometimes I look for inspirations with my thumbnails, however thay are generally trash.

The problem lays, when you lazily type some prompt, or even copy already generated image, that's clearly messed up, and doesn't look good, and call it a day.

There are so many creators, who create their own thumbnails, or simply use publicly aviable photos/screenshots. @Zig_Zag_Zug_Zwang, @achja, @jeffforever, @MartinaGe, @jk_182, @Ledger4545, @Toadofsky, @OnTheQueenside, @TotalNoob69, @Chess-Network to name a few.

Just because your thumbnail isn't perfectly what you imagined, doens't mean it takes away from the most important thing - the blog's content.

Thank you for reading again, sorry for my little rant, and hopefully see you very soon! :)
