  1. muehre (7) my preparation ends here since he's never had this position before iirc
  2. muehre (7) and because many moves are possible. Bg4, dxe4, d4, Bc5 or Bd4 look like nice moves
  3. muehre (7) a lead in development + the half open a-file *should* compensate for the bishop pair + doubled pawns
  4. muehre (7) if nothing crazy happens then I'll just castle and grab the e5 pawn
  5. muehre (8) exd3 O-O and he can't take on c2 because of Qxd8 Kxd8 and Nf7+ winning the rook
  6. muehre 8.. Qd4 was unexpected
  7. muehre Dude the engine's graph do not reflect how I felt during the game - it seemed so complicated to me
  8. muehre wp
  9. CPTsopiens I botched that queen trade!
  10. muehre I thought about 9. Bf4 but did not see that I have Ra4 after Bd6
  11. muehre Yeah I felt like I got really lucky with that trade. But if you retreat the queen then c3 and d4 look solid imo
  12. CPTsopiens just Bxe2 and 0-0
  13. CPTsopiens I don't understand why so many strong players have such low ratings in this league!
  14. muehre Me neither. I did not expect to win against a 2100 but I've also lost to 1700s before
  15. muehre it's like ratings don't matter in this league - you either play good moves or lose lol
  16. CPTsopiens and you had1 inaccuracy and 97% accuracy, without using time in the opening?
  17. muehre I looked at your games and saw that you've had this 6.. d5 line a couple of times
  18. CPTsopiens well maybe Bc5 and can just play it normal
  19. muehre so I knew what kind of position we'd get into and briefly looked at the things that can happen after 7. Nf3
  20. CPTsopiens It's a weird opening for white that I don't see much
  21. CPTsopiens I saw it in a tourney, and didn't play d5 and got squeezed
  22. muehre But I was basically on my own after Nxe5
  23. muehre I tried e4e5 Nf3 before but everyone had their pet line as black so I just decided to learn 2. Bf4
  24. muehre it's not fighting for an advantage but for a game that I'm more familiar with than my opponent and it worked this time :)
  25. CPTsopiens yeah d5 is the main move
  26. CPTsopiens 6 games after 8) exd3 and white hasn't won
  27. CPTsopiens Qd4 was dubious
  28. muehre I was hoping for 8. exd3 O-O and then see how the position plays out
  29. CPTsopiens yeah just dumb on my part, exd3 gives you the worst pawn structure
  30. muehre yeah but I think it's hard to play this position as black since you're spoilt for choice after 7. Nf3
  31. CPTsopiens well you have Nxd3 Be7, castle castle and we have a game.
  32. muehre every move looks reasonable there
  33. CPTsopiens remember it's a chess game. This opening is a bit boring for white, like you said, not fighting for much.
  34. CPTsopiens after e4-e5 it is white who is spoiled for choice. When I switched from c5 to e5, I realized I had to prepare for the kitchen sink!
  35. muehre Yeah especially if white just sacs on f7 and has all the fun
  36. muehre But the bishops opening is really fun for me - usually I get to play an early f4 and create an attack :D
  37. CPTsopiens I mean you can play italian, spanish, scotch, and all kinds of gambit kings, evans, scotch etc.
  38. muehre I also suck at maneuvering in the ruy or italian, so this one was easier to learn
  39. CPTsopiens I see you play a lot of d4. Maybe that's fine?
  40. muehre Probably, but I currently enjoy e4 :D
  41. CPTsopiens well gonna run. thanks for the game, gl
  42. muehre thanks for the game and good luck with your next games!
