In this video, IM Kostya Kavutskiy is covering the decoy chess tactic.
What is a Decoy?
A decoy tactic is when you are trying to lure an enemy piece to a very specific square. Trying to get one of their pieces to a very specific square in order to create some kind of tactic (a fork, a pin, a double attack or any other tactic).
What is the difference between a decoy and a deflection?
A deflection occurs when you are trying to lure a piece away from the square where its currently on or away from the defence of a specific square or piece. You do not chase the piece itself, but you are trying to get it away from the square where it is sitting right now.
