Learn the Philidor Position (Cut-off King) - Beginner to Chess Master #20
This is video #20 from the "Beginner to Chess Master" playlist. What type of rook and pawn endgame is more popular than the Lucena Position you may ask...well it's the Philidor Position. The key difference between the two endings is what king stands in front of the pawn. In the Philidor Position we are attempting to, as the weaker side, draw the game. Illustrated in this video is a very simple and effective method to holding the draw when down a pawn in this must know rook and pawn endgame, the Philidor Position.
