Thanks! I’ve noticed that too, so many players think blitz is all about playing as fast as possible. But I really believe it’s more about momentum and rhythm than raw speed. There’s also a big difference between thinking fast and just playing fast. When your decisions flow naturally, the clock tends to take care of itself.
Speed without structure is useless. The real key is to train pattern recognition so that moves come fast and accurate, rather than just blindly moving quickly. A good way to train this is, to play 3|0 Chess960, since there are no openings and each position is random, you can quickly train your brain to playing the best practical move in the position and make the best decision in time pressure! I played 1/2|0 Chess960, it's your choice :D.
This blog is extremely true but is it okay to depend on speed when you are playing a higher skilled player?
