Zimbabwe Chess Federation
The World Chess Federation (FIDE) in conjunction Zimbabwe Chess Federation will be hosting a series of online chess tournaments under the theme Checkmate Corona Virus from the 7th to the 13th of June 2020.
Amidst this pandemic crisis, Zimbabweans are still forced or advised to stay home and to be safe. Supporting the efforts of the Governments and SRC and all chess loving individuals in the country, we want to give a creative outlet to those who have to spend many hours at home, while also promoting the ideals of unity, solidarity, and participation.
Participation in the "Checkmate Coronavirus" tournaments is absolutely free! They are open to all Zimbabweans, everyone can participate and win at "Checkmate Coronavirus", regardless, age, sex, or level of play or affiliation to the Zimbabwe Chess Federation.
These tournaments are simply for the fun of playing and participating. In each tournament, “raffle tickets” are distributed randomly (by drawing of lots) to 5% of the total number of confirmed players. The distributing procedure is performed by a random number generator (RNG) and done by FIDE.
There are at least 1500 prizes to be won world over.
