Well , I am just a 1650 spectator , but the word is that a tournament cannot last 6 months!
This wasn't the case even in the 19th century , when some games could go on for days!
Give them a deadline and this solves the problem!!

Qualification for the person who plays Magnus in the normal chess championship in March 2018 has already begun. The candidates match is in November. That is more than 12 months altogether for normal chess.
