"First & Last" - Classic Rock/Soul Song Lyrics

Okay, the idea here is to guess the song from its first and last lines. And there's just one proviso: the title itself can't be a part of it (especially since a lot of songs do tend to end that way)...it will then be the next-to-last line.

1) The day breaks, your mind aches/ A love that should have lasted years

2) When I was younger, I thought I could stand on my own/ Can't you see--I've gotta gotta have you

3) She's driving away with the dim lights on/ She says, "I like the nightlife, baby"

4) Today I saw somebody who looked just like you/ Knowing they just won't do--they're not you

5) I've looked under chairs, I've looked under tables/ I won't get to get what I'm after till the day I die

6) Well, the talk on the street says you might go solo/ If you're making me wait, if you're leading me on

7) There's no point in asking, you'll get no reply/ You'll always find me out to lunch

8) We are amazed but not amused by all the things you say that you'll do/ 'Cause if you really want to hear our views

9) I've got a song, I ain't got no melody/ Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky?

10) Whenever I'm with him, something inside/ Don't pass up this chance, this time it's a true romance

11) Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatles song/ If you listen to the wind, you can still hear him play

12) You talk about things that nobody cares/ 'Cause a month on the road and I'll be eating from your hand

13) I don't want to kiss you, I don't want to touch/ Every time I phone you, I just want to put you down

14) Hello my love, I heard a kiss from you/ The music plays, I sit in for a few

15 Walking down the street smoggy-eyed/ Don't you know that it's true that for me and for you
I wont give any of them away, but #11 has always been a favorite of mine. It's bad man ;)

"Classics from the 2000s" that made me laugh out loud! I needed that. :)
#3: The Cars. Isn't that the name of the song: "I like the nightlife, baby"?
Pretty difficult indeed but, thanks to a few movies, at least I got #14: Shuggie Otis/The Brothers Johnson - Strawberry Letter 23

Very nice song indeed! I played "Get the funk out ma face" over and over and over...
#13 is Elvis Costello. I can hear him sing "Every time I phone you, I just want to put you down" but I can't remember the song.

@Frogster64, yeah, it's the Cars! The title is actually "Let's Go", though "I like the night life, baby" is repeated in chorus.

#2 is "Something About You" (Boston), #4 is "You Are Everything" (I don't know who sang it), and #10 is "Heat Wave" (Linda Ronstadt). I think #11 is called "Shooting Star" but I'm not sure, and I don't know who sang it.

This wasn't as easy as I thought!
