Atomic: A rule that should be changed

From the viewpoint of pure chess, this is all natural. If a side makes a move in which both kings explode, then this is a suicide attack. The only logical result can be a draw in this case. Also this kind of action is absolutely allowed in pure chess which grants no artificial protection to the king. Again atomic is only special in that capturing both kings at once is technically possible, unlike in normal chess, where you can only capture one king at a time.

If we take this view further, even in pure chess, castling through attack should be special. You can argue, that the king actually walks though the passing squares and during this walk will be under attack on some square and can be captured. Much the same way as you can capture a pawn crossing an other pawn's attack, in pure chess you can capture a king en passant during castling.
