As i said in #9, like there are options to hide ratings, username and disable chat for players who need to focus, this feature would help players who want to *learn* to be patient.
Thats a nice idea... helps reduce "sandbagging"(losing many games in a row on purpose to lower your rating)

Only in the sense that the sandbagging can be done more quickly by resigning and moving on.

And it isn't much use anyway if the suggested feature is going to be voluntary, as advocated by lakfish. The sandbagger can merely switch the feature off.

I don't see the learning effect here.
@Brian-E i said "reduce" sandbagging. it can be automatically on by default, and hidden in the settings so some sandbaggers will not know of it and their games will take a lot longer then usual thus reducing the amount of games in the same time(yes i actually said "thus" in 2024). that will give lichess more time to stop them

Then you're free to keep it disabled if it's ever implemented.

I don't need to learn that- I learned that years ago., thank you very much.

Edit: what I mean to say: I'm not sure if I would have leared that with such an option.

No worries, I'm glad to explain. Like there are certain players who need "help" with focusing on their game and therefore for such players there are options to hide ratings, username, disable chat, (zen mode); similarly, this option will "help" those who need help improving on their patience. Even if you think don't need help, it might still be a good idea to keep this option enabled, because in games you'd have otherwise resigned, you have nothing more to lose, and this option might result in you winning a few of the games you'd have otherwise resigned in.
All that will happen is more games will be defaulted by a player disconnecting after a bad blunder.
