Is lichess lagging?

Here is the definitive answer! lichess.org/lag

Next time you see a player whining about lag, you can send them there, so they can learn a thing or two :D
Thank you, Thibault!

FYI: from my place (Latvia) it is 70 ms average ping till France. :)
Just asking, why is my time running down (avg. around 0.1s per 5 moves) when premoving everything?
It may be due to your computer CPU having more urgent tasks to process than lichess moves. In any case, 0.02s per premove is quite acceptable if you ask me, especially compared to other chess servers.
Yep, definitely. That's why I simply love to play bullet and blitz here. Keep it up!
"After your move, your average network lag is added to your clock."
Call me crazy but I think you should add twice that value. Right now I have 600 ms latency. That means that not only it takes 0,6 sec for the server to know my move, but also 0,6 sec for the server to tell me my opponent's move, and therefore me having new information to make a decision. Knowing 0,6 sec later that a new move has been made is also a handicap and should also be taken into account. Unless of course, you are already taking that also into account, in which case I think you should add it to the description.
Love the server. Cheers.
The ping (aka network lag) is the entire round-trip, i.e. the time to send AND receive a packet to and from lichess. Therefore it already contains all the time that needs to be compensated.
Could you hard code the lag page into the top of the chat box in the tourny's Thibault?
Also, there could be a link to a page that helps people to reduce their lag?
VariantLurker, I tried one thing: I opened task manager in chrome (Shift+Esc) and found there Lichess tab. There is an amount of memory it uses. Then I found in task manager of Windows the same process (same memory) and I put real-time priority there. I don't know yet, if it actually let me avoid losing some 0.1 every 5 moves, but try it and say what you will have got. If thibault is right, and it depends on CPU, then it might probably help.
Also change in preferences on Lichess and in "clock" press: Also try to change this: go to clock preferences on Lichess and press: "show tenth of seconds always". So it will be easier to see how much tenths of second you lose with the moves.
