I think berserking is an interesting idea/feature, and I understand that it is a person's choice whether or not they want to berserk in a tournament to try get more points, but a berserking player will have results commensurate with a player of lower rating (unless the berserking player is so much stronger or weaker than their opponents that berserking won't change the results)
And if it is desired that a person's rating is as accurate as possible a gauge of a players strength, then berserking is harmful to the accuracy of the rating system
As an example, suppose 2 players have the same rating strength, of 1800, say
Suppose that the 1st player's only games are tournament games, and the 1st player berserks every game and no opponent of the 1st player ever berserks against player 1, and suppose that player 2 only plays tournament games, and that player 2 never berserks, but that the opponents of player 2 always berserk
Then player 2 will have a (perhaps much higher) rating than player 1
