Could anyone please tell me how this is checkmate in Atomic?
The only legal move for white is to take the black queen with the king – which would explode white's king.
But what I mean is that in this match I played before the main one...

The king wasn't nuked. It was put in checkmate.
But the Queen wasn't protected in any way.
In the first game the king has to take the queen, it is a forced movement, in the second the bishop does not have to take the knight, white can play Bh4 for example, and that is not mate.
The king can't take, or it would blow up.
yeah, the king has to take the queen buuut, the king cant take the queen, because of the explosion, then its checkmate, white cant do anything to avoid the check.
The rules of Atomic can cause trouble to a beginner.
