Is it rude to...

Is it rude to accept an open seek challenge of someone who has already declined a rematch with you a few minutes prior?
sometimes I do this, but i'm not sure if people consider it rude or annoying.
thoughts?
Maybe if you're beating the pants off of them, it might be rude. If they said, "Okay, no more today." Otherwise I don't see why it would matter. They still want to play and so do you. Problem solved. They can always abort the game and block you if they're really that annoyed but that's on them and their saltiness. It's just a game after all.
Who cares? ;-)

If they don't like to play you they can decline. They can define the options of their seek preventing you from recognizing the challenge. If they would never like to play you they can block you. Only if they decline again i would not accelt another challenge.
Hello all,

TL;DR: I would consider it rude and annoying.

For me, a "no" is always a "no" and a "yes" is always a "yes".
But that's just me. Perhaps other people use both terms interchangeably. I do not know.

Here is one of my personal golden rules in life: "Treat others the way you would like to be treated".
If a player rejects my request for a rematch, it was for a reason (which I might not be aware of).

In case I do not find other players who would like to play chess with me, I still can play chess with the chess computer, read a book, play guitar, etc. :-)

Have a nice day, take care!
I decline a challenge from somebody who has just declined an open seek and wants to play the opposite side. If you were matched with a random colour play it, don't disconnect to switch sides fool!

An open challenge is inherently a yes.

Good point!

I had not seen it from this point of view until now. So far, I thought that a player who just rejected my rematch and then sends an open challenge (via the lobby) wants to play chess with everyone, except me. :-) It's interesting to see other points of views. Thank you for this! My lesson learned: I need to play more chess. ;-)
Thanks for all your answers, y'all!

honestly, i usually see it as @lavender729 does... but its nice to see other perspectives

how about this - what if its a much higher rated (+200,+300) opponent? Do you think that changes anything?
I usually reject rematches because I want to analyze the game or take a break. If I set up an open challenge, then I'm done with whatever I'm doing, and playing someone that I just played would be fine.

In other words, I wouldn't find it rude :)
