If your opponent does this than the system slowly catches on and will start auto resigning for them earlier. They are also get a ban warning and if they do it again will get play banned.
Sorry you were unlucky and played someone who did it for the first time. The system will not be changed since if they increase the autoresign then it will start giving more false positives than the devs would like. Imagine people complaining that the site resigned for them while they were thinking.

Look, FIRST finish the game and THEN go feed the baby. It's not like they're going to starve inside the hour. Show some consideration for your chess opponents! Chances are that's all it was crying about anyway; after all, they know better than to play with things like scissors and stuff.
I think it's inconsiderate for someone's frisky wife to interrupt our chess game, but I understand. Please try to plan your games more efficiently, the next time, so we won't be interrupted again.
