Banned for cheating

Futile discussion.
Let me clarify my point.

But first: Understandably, Lichess doesn't speak of how they find cheaters.

So the point of us as users, to talk about probability of a cheater being innocent or guilty is irrelevant. Because we don't know.

I am more curious about the statistics of Lichess cheaters.
Like, for example:
How many have they caught?
How many have been vindicated?
And so forth.
Two days ago there was a stream where we could play against a master on lichess in a tournament. A nice community where a lot of beginners joined to learn and practice chess. But there was one guy who had 1300 rating and won all his games. and even beat the titled players. It was very suspicious. He was soon marked as a cheater by lichess and closed his account during the tournament.
I don't get it. It's just disrespectful to all players.
#12 cheating is disrespectful. Disrespectful to the other players, to the game and to your own self-respect.
But, we must also remember, that behind our online profile is a human person.

In your specific example, it was properly a troll, who wanted to beat a champion (but cheating is never winning)
@Patrizsche

Lichess only will analyze the games of reported players using the AI. It is too time-consuming/resource-intensive to check every game in real time. I think there are a few very basic checks to catch extremely simple cheats that will trigger automatically but outside of that the only games are examined are ones that are reported.

On reported, games, they do use a learning algorithm to try to identify the cheats. The learning algorithm itself is open source. If you look up Irwin Lichess you should find it. Lichess does not publish the training set that they use on it, but it is apparently very extensive.
how do i report cheating? i havent found any button for this
#15 you click on the pseudo of the one you want to report and you get an icon to report him on the top left on his profile page. Then you can choose why you want to report him.
I meant if lichess can just give the number of :
- Banned accounts
- Banned accounts but the person ask for a review of this ban
- after this review, how many of them are rehabilitated
I want to suggest that we refrain from discussing cheating / cheaters in the forum.
Place a notice in the main forum page listing inappropriate topics, with a link to the reporting procedure.
I believe that the lively discussion on cheating encourage more cheating.
It makes people think about the possibility.
It also creates the impression that our community is filled with cheaters, which is NOT the case.
I suspect dark agents from rival sites for instigating cheater discussions here :D
I cannot see what anyone could gain by cheating, except for the attention.
By being so obsessed with the concept, we provide the attention.
It becomes a challenge to some people - "Can you catch me!"
They are obviously not serious about chess.

Lichess seem to think their detection system is perfectly sensitive (so no false-positives) and almost perfectly specific (so almost no false-negatives). I don't believe that's likely. They do a great job, but there are many obvious ways to cheat that would be extremely hard to detect.

I'd actually support setting up a team of authorized cheat-testers who were permitted to battle-test the system to see how much cheating they could get away with. A bounty-hunter system if you like, with a prize for the person who cheated their way to the highest rating before being caught. There would be bonus points for getting a fake title added to username.

That would be a true test!
An easy way to stop cheating is to play strip chess on cam. If someone takes a minor piece, the other person has to take off something minor like a sock or hat. But if a rook is taken, then then the shirt or pants come off. Imagine what you like if the queen is taken. No one will want to cheat.
