Do you need to know KID to play Grunfeld?

Are there slightly less theoretical lines that white can go for in order to force black into (perhaps slightly improved, but still potentially unfamiliar) King's Indian Defense positions?

No, the whole point of the Grunfeld is to play d5, while in the KID black plays d6. It's different.
